Ayodhya: The 14-Kosi Parikrama route in Ayodhya is undergoing a major transformation ahead of Deepotsav and the annual Parikrama Mela, with a four-laning project worth approximately Rs 1,140 crore nearing completion. The 31-km stretch is being upgraded to improve connectivity and provide better facilities for pilgrims.

The project aims to modernise the 42-km-long traditional pilgrimage route before Deepotsav. In addition to wider roads, the upgraded stretch will feature public toilets, water kiosks, tin sheds, seating arrangements and improved lighting to ensure greater convenience for devotees.

The 14-Kosi Parikrama is an ancient religious tradition in which devotees circumambulate the sacred boundary of Ayodhya. According to government figures, around 30 lakh pilgrims have participated in the event in recent years. With the growing number of visitors to the Ram Temple, the road-widening project is expected to facilitate smoother traffic movement and better crowd management.

A Public Works Department official said attractive yellow railings were being installed along the road dividers, while tree guards were being placed around newly planted saplings. Decorative lights inspired by the legacy of Lord Ram are also being installed to illuminate the route.

The four-lane railway overbridge near Modaha has already been completed. Authorities are focusing on finishing the remaining work and preparing the entire 42-km route ahead of Deepotsav, with improved infrastructure and amenities for pilgrims.
